Licenced Movers
Make sure the moving company
you pick is licensed by the
State of New Jersey. Obtain
as much information as possible
on the mover: legal name,
phone number and license number
and verify the info with the
New Jersey State Division
of Consumer Affairs where
you can also learn if the
mover’s record is in good
standing

Price Estimates
Request an in-site estimate,
make an appointment with the
mover’s agent to walk through
your home and survey your
items. Do not tempt to get
an estimate over the phone
or by email and get a few
estimates from different movers
to compare. Remember, choosing
the lowest estimate will not
guarantee

Packing and accessorial
charges
Some items may require to
be packed in order to transport
them in the truck. Packing
is an additional service and
will be charged separately.
You may want to do some or
most of the packing on your
own. You can order packing
supplies and moving boxes
online or anywhere else. Accessorial
services are additional services
provided by the movers such
as special packing or crating
of fragile items, disassembly

Loss and Damage
The mover responsibility for
items lost or damages is limited
to only 60 cents per pound
per article, so if an item
is lost or damaged you’ll
get 60 cents times the weight
of your items. Since this
is usually not enough to cover
the real value of your items
you may want o consider optional
coverage by declaring the
value of your items and paying
an extra premium
